The Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences program is proud to celebrate the promotions of Dr. Lisa Lundgren and Dr. Hillary Swanson to Associate Professor.

Both faculty members bring distinctive perspectives to understanding how people learn. Dr. Lundgren’s research explores how people learn about science across a variety of contexts, including schools, museums, social media, and community events. Her work examines how design can connect formal and informal learning opportunities and how diverse stakeholders can participate in science learning, teaching, and engagement. Dr. Swanson’s research examines how students develop new understanding by building on and refining their existing ideas and experiences. Drawing on her background as a classroom teacher, her work also explores how technology and instruction can support learning while recognizing the productive resources students bring to the learning process.

Their scholarship, teaching, and commitment to understanding learning continue to enrich the ITLS community and the broader field. Congratulations to Dr. Lundgren and Dr. Swanson on this well-deserved achievement! 🎉
