<bio>Brooke Dinsmore is a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Virginia. Her research explores race, class, and gender inequalities in education with a focus on relationships, culture, and digital technology. Her dissertation compares the impact of COVID 19 school closures on teacher-student relationships at two American high schools. Expanding upon six months of observations conducted prior to school closures, the project addresses how school policy responses and teacher strategies are mitigating - or amplifying - race and class disparities in student experience and outcomes. Her research has been published in Information, Communication & Society and Ethnography and funded by the National Science Foundation and the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.</bio>
