Research, Collaboration, and Impact

Our faculty pursue research that advances understanding of the brain, behavior, mental health, learning, development, health, and community well-being.

Research in the department spans laboratory science, neuroscience, clinical and counseling psychology, behavior analysis, developmental science, school psychology, health psychology, quantitative methods, and community-engaged scholarship. Faculty regularly collaborate across research areas and with colleagues throughout
the university.

We value rigorous science, meaningful impact, and the translation of knowledge into practices and policies that improve lives. Faculty are encouraged to pursue innovative ideas, build interdisciplinary partnerships, and develop research programs that create lasting impact.

Students at the Center

Students are central to our mission. Faculty in the department work closely with undergraduate and graduate students as teachers, mentors, research collaborators, and advisors. Our students contribute to research, present at professional conferences, engage with communities, and prepare for careers in healthcare, education, research, industry, and public service.

Graduate students receive intensive mentorship as researchers, educators, and future leaders in the discipline. Undergraduate students have opportunities to participate in research, clinical, educational, and community-engaged experiences that prepare them for success after graduation.
